• arjuna uvāca
• aparaḿ bhavato janma
• paraḿ janma vivasvataḥ
• katham etad vijānīyāḿ
• tvam ādau proktavān iti

Translation

Arjuna said: The sun-god Vivasvān is senior by birth to You. How am I to understand that in the beginning You instructed this science to him?
